Dr. Dennis Ruskin

Dr. Dennis Ruskin graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1976 with a doctor of optometry degree, the same year he established his full service practice in Toronto, Ontario. In 1989, he became a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Ruskin has been an appointed advisory member to committees within the provincial government, College of Optometrists (the provincial regulatory body), Ontario Association of Optometrists, optical and pharmaceutical corporations. As well, he has had clinical affiliation with the Vision Institute, served as examiner for the Canadian Examiners of Optometry, lectured to optometrists and the public, performed clinical studies, and has been a clinical investigator for the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr. Ruskin has an interest about how nutrition affects visual performance and ocular health. He is a founding board member of the Ocular Nutrition Society and the current chair of the Ocular Nutrition special interest group (SIG) within the American Academy of Optometry.

Currently, Dr. Ruskin is the president of the College of Optometrists of Ontario. The college regulates Optometry in the province of Ontario. Its mandate is to protect the public interest and guide the profession.
