Bolton Optometry Clinic – A History

This office opened December 4, 1994.  It was a place to call “home” for Dr. Michelle McKenzie and Dr. Vince Panzica.  After many years of association with other offices, it was time to take the leap of faith and open a one room office.  Both doctors continued to maintain outside associateships to cover the costs of the new office.  There was one examination room and one receptionist.  The colour scheme as designed by the renowned Larry Funston, was royal blue and cream.  In 1999, a second exam room was created and by August 2000, all outside associateships were discontinued.  In the summer of 2003 the office changed from a rectangle to a larger L shape.  Larry returned to help deal with a height difference between the original office and the new addition.  According to Larry, ours was one of the most unusually shaped offices he had ever designed.  At that time the entire office was re-designed and the famous checkerboard carpet arrived.  Dr. Donati spent 3 months of her clinical internship with the office in 2005 and was quickly invited back when she graduated in 2006.   After 16 years of serving patients in the Bolton Medical Centre and a whole lot of growth it was to time to take another leap.  Larry’s expertise was called upon again and after months of hard work, the doors to the new Bolton Optometry Clinic opened on Dec. 2nd, 2010.  The new, 2600 square foot, clinic is equipped with 4 exam rooms, state-of-the art diagnostic tools and is completely wheel chair accessible.
